Accompanied by his wife Akiko, he went directly from the hospital to the venue for Game 4 of the Jūdan title match. Comparing the photos on the hotel's official website, not only the exterior but also the interior closely resembles the inn depicted in the manga. From January 24 to 25, 2001, Game 2 of the 25th Kisei title challenger match (Wang Lixing Kisei vs. challenger Cho Sonjin 9-dan) was indeed held at Entaiji-so. Considering that chapter 109 of the manga, "Toya Koyo," was serialized in issue 16 of 2001, it is very likely the author referred to the Kisei title materials of that time.
[Addendum] In October 2017, during a cross-Japan trip, I deliberately detoured to Entaiji-so to take photos despite the threat of Typhoon No. 22. This time I only passed by without staying, but I will certainly find another opportunity to revisit and photograph the interior.
