In Volume 3, Chapter 2 of the novel, Nadeshiko goes shopping alone at the renovated Shinpukan on Karasuma and thinks under a water-drop-shaped sculpture in the courtyard of Shinpukan. The sculpture is named "Ether (Octagon)" and was designed by Kohei Nawa. She then meets Shana and Shou, who have come to see a movie.
