(In the anime, they eat by a pillar next to the escalator.) "After waiting in a long line and finally finishing checkout and leaving the shop, we decided to eat leaning against the wall next to the escalator." In Chapter 3 of Volume 3 of the novel, the place where Tarumi waits for Shimamura. "She was wearing her uniform but carried no bag; she was waiting for me at the place where I had once eaten donuts with Adachi." (This location was chosen arbitrarily; there are many walls beside the escalator where one can lean and eat.)
