NishapurEP 218:212026-07-04An ancient city in Iran, rendered as Nichaer'er in the Yuanshi, Taizu Benji. Chinggis Khan's son-in-law Toquchar was killed attacking Nishapur; Tolui ordered a massacre after taking the city in 1221, and Toquchar's widow personally directed the killings; only 4,000 artisans survived as captives. The ruins of ancient Nishapur lie southeast of today's Nishapur city; the Metropolitan Museum of Art conducted multiple excavations in the 20th century (https://www.metmuseum.org/ja/about-the-met/collection-areas/islamic-art/nishapur-excavations). This point is one of those remains; Google Maps names it 'شهر کهنه'.
