Asao Submersible Bridge淺尾沈下橋2024-08-28Sinking bridges, also called submersible or fording bridges, are characterized by simple structure and low cost. The deck is slightly above normal water level and has no railings, so that sediment and driftwood carried from upstream pass smoothly. They are mostly used on rivers with a large difference between normal and flood levels and no navigation needs, and are common in the mountains of Shikoku.
